1. Education

• High School Diploma: A high school diploma or GED is the foundational requirement. 
• AVMA-Accredited Program: You must complete a 2-year associate's degree program in veterinary technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). 

2. Hands-on Training 

• Clinical Experience: Your program will include hands-on training, and you'll complete an externship to gain practical experience in animal handling, assisting in surgeries, and providing patient care.

3. Credentialing Exam 

• Pass the VTNE: After completing your education, you must pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE).

4. State Licensure 

• Apply for Licensure: Once you pass the VTNE, you apply for licensure, certification, or registration based on the requirements of the state where you plan to work.
