How to get involved with Students for Veterinary Practices

How IVPA connects with students:

  • On-campus speakers and networking events
  • IVPA member practices host students for summer internships, clinical rotations, or new graduate jobs - see section below for how to add your practice to this list
  • Summer Student Rounds Program
  • Externship funding
  • Piloting this summer - entrepreneurship experience

How YOU can help - LOW COMMITMENT

  • Create a clinic profile if you’re open to hosting students by filling out this form
    • Include in your clinic profile any stipend or compensation you’re willing to provide to students coming to your clinic for an experience
  • Facilitate one Summer Student Rounds Session this summer:

How YOU can help - MODERATE/HIGH COMMITMENT

  • Help establish a student rep/liaison program at your alma mater or nearest vet school: email Christie [email protected] for more information.
  • Volunteer to speak/present to students at your nearest vet school (Michigan/Illinois only at this time): email Christie [email protected] with a brief bio and topics you’re passionate about
  • Help develop student-facing content (i.e. videos, webpages, social media posts) about why they should choose independent:

How YOU can help - $$$ ONLY COMMITMENT

  • $2500-3000 per year pays for a student liaison program at your alma mater or local vet school
  • $500-1000 can sponsor a student scholarship to complete an externship or internship with any IVPA member practice
  • $250-500 sponsors an event at a vet school (currently available for Michigan/Illinois)
