After a lifetime in veterinary medicine, I am seeking the right veterinarian to carry forward the legacy of my well-established and well-equipped small animal hospital located in the south Chicago suburbs near the Indiana border.
I am the second owner since the hospital opened, and it has been a privilege to serve the clients and patients in this community while building a trusted and respected practice.
For veterinarians who have considered ownership, this opportunity offers a far more secure path than starting from scratch. Instead of taking on the financial burden of building a new hospital, purchasing all new equipment, and hoping to build a client base over time, this practice offers:
Income from day one, an established reputation, and a loyal client base already in place.
Practice Overview
This hospital continues to be one of only two privately owned veterinary practices in the immediate area, with corporate hospitals operating in surrounding communities. Many clients specifically seek out privately owned hospitals where they can maintain long-term relationships with their veterinarian.
Located in a quiet middle-class neighborhood at the Illinois–Indiana border, the practice draws clients from:
• Southwest and southeast Chicago suburbs
• South Chicago communities
• Northwest Indiana
The hospital practices an integrative approach to medicine, incorporating Eastern and Western veterinary medicine to provide comprehensive patient care.
Services include:
• Medical, surgical, and dental care
• 95% of laboratory diagnostics performed in-house (cytology sent out)
• Ultrasound diagnostics
• Digital radiology and dental radiology
• Fully equipped surgical suite
The practice is approximately 95% computerized and utilizes medical record scribe support to improve efficiency and allow doctors to focus on patient care.
Equipment and Clinical Capability
The hospital is well equipped to support high-quality patient care and efficiency, minimally including:
• Companion Animal diagnostic equipment
• Two isoflurane anesthesia units allowing simultaneous procedures
• Two surgical monitoring units
• IV fluid warmers and regulation
• Ultrasound
• Digital radiology
• Dental radiology
• Cryotherapy
• Therapeutic ultrasound and TENS therapy
All equipment is well maintained and regularly serviced
Additionally, the hospital has an established relationship with a board-certified cardiologist who provides referral services on an as-needed basis, benefiting both our clients and neighboring veterinary hospitals.
Staff and Operations
The hospital is supported by a well-established, professional support staff who work at the top of their abilities. This allows doctors to focus on diagnosis, treatment, and client care while maintaining a high standard of medicine. We are currently closed Saturday and Sunday to allow for improved work/life balance while being open 36 hours per week and grossing seven figures.
Boarding services are offered as a convenience to our clients and provide an additional revenue stream, with room available to expand this service if desired.
Facility and Expansion Potential
The current facility comfortably accommodates three doctors, with a reception area large enough to expand from three to four exam rooms if desired.
The property may be leased or purchased. If purchased, the six included lots provide significant opportunity for future expansion. If leased, expansion options can still be discussed to help maximize growth potential.
Transition Support
For the right buyer, I am willing to remain part-time for two to three years to provide mentorship and ensure a smooth transition for both the new owner and our long-standing clients.
A Rare Opportunity
Opportunities like this do not come along often—an established practice with strong community trust, modern equipment, loyal clientele, and immediate revenue potential.
For veterinarians who have envisioned owning their own hospital but prefer the stability of an established practice rather than starting from scratch, this represents a unique opportunity.
If practice ownership has been part of your long-term vision, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the practice further.
