Veterinarian owned, well-respected small animal practice, located in a beautiful two story light-filled space, five minute walk to the beach, nestled in the Tahoe National Forest with hiking trails outside the front door.

Twenty years ago, I fell in love with the Lake Tahoe area and bought this veterinary practice. My husband and I moved our family here from San Francisco to enjoy the beautiful majestic mountains where we live a life connected to nature. Our veterinary team is dedicated to practicing great medicine, and finding balance where we care for our patients, while also supporting each other.

The community of North Lake Tahoe has been so welcoming- and the schools were a refreshing change after our experience in the city. Our local elementary school has a Spanish Immersion program which is excellent- many of our daughters' teachers have become family friends. Our schools have ski days, where PE is on the slopes! The local STEM programs are excellent. We are a small community where everyone looks out for each others' kids. Hiking, biking, and paddle boarding make up most of our summer plans, along w/ wonderful cultural activities like, "Theater Under the Stars" at Shakespeare Festival. Our local YMCA has a terrific after school program- and also offers cool programs for adult community members.

The practice I bought back in 2003 needed a lot of work- and work we did! What started as a small cabin in Kings Beach has grown into a beautiful sunlight filled space in Tahoe Vista with all of the equipment one would hope to find in a full service hospital:
Digital radiology
Digital dental radiology
Full diagnostic lab
Diagnostic ultrasound with live assistance
Orthopedics, including TTA equipment
Class IV laser
Assisi loop therapy (in addition to other medical modalities)

We have a special interest in pain management and have equipped our hospital to support that focus:
Our RVTs, along with myself, belong to the IVAPM (and are big fans of the Anesthesia Nerds & VASG) and when we can, we travel to their annual conferences to be sure our pain management and anesthesia protocols are up to speed.
One of our team members is a RVT who worked in several specialty hospitals- including the anesthesia department at UC Davis
We reassess and upgrade our protocols on the regular, and work together to customize our pain and sedation protocols for every patient.

The practice has been fully computerized for over twenty years- and just recently upgraded six computer stations. VIN membership is included for Associates, and our support team members are active on VSPN. We are pretty tech-forward in our practice, which makes record keeping pretty painless.

Treatment Room:
We really like to sleep at night, so we do all of the things we can to keep our patients' experiences with us safe and comfortable:
Oversized treatment room with a wall of windows looking out onto the acre of fenced play space (every day is "bring your dogs to work" day, for us!).
Dedicated surgical suite with all the good monitoring and peri-anesthetic toys;
Fluid pumps (micro dose ketamine cri's, mlk cri's for painful procedures)
Capnography (including an Emma for the little guys)
Doppler bp
Oscillometric bp
Pulse ox
Vetbedjet warmers.

Dental Suite:
We also have a special interest in dentistry, and we've created a dental suite in a quiet area of treatment with windows adding natural sunlight to brighten our procedures. Following this years' Dental Forum, we have upgraded all of our dental equipment, to go along with our LEDs and loups. One of our RVTs shares a special interest in dentistry, which allows us to constantly improve our dental game.

We run our practice by valuing team member care:
Every member of the team is encouraged to grow in the direction of their strongest interests- and they are well compensated as they learn and grow.
Charging properly for services allows us to compensate each member of the team, and also to support everyones' security with a 401k, health care, pet health care, paid vacation, paid wellness days, and continuing education.
Our profession is pretty physical -to support our bodies- every team member has an unlimited membership to our local Cross Fit program (which offers all levels of training- including pilates and yoga).
We schedule our days so that everyone always has a break midday to work out and recharge with a healthy meal.
Continued education, vacation time, daily exercise, daily mental breaks, and financial security are the keystones to an invigorating and sustainable career.

We schedule a 36 hour, 4 day, week- either Monday-Thursday, or Tuesday-Friday.
No Weekends.
No After-hours emergencies.
Base pay is $120,000.00 with a 22% production bonus (and the base pay will reset annually, upwards, to the equivalent of 95% of the previous years' base + bonus).
Newer grads should easily earn in the 120K range, whereas experienced practitioners working full time (36 hours/wk) will easily earn in the low to mid 200K range.
